About Us

Moreton Equestrian Centre is based near Dorchester in Dorset is owned and managed by Liz Frampton Hobbs. The old yard was set up in 1995 in what was the old South Dorset hunt stables. Moreton Stables moved to its current location in 2005 to a purpose build yard for 40 horses. 

The Team

Liz Frampton Hobbs TD BSc, Dip Acc

Liz Frampton Hobbs is the founder and Proprietor of Moreton Stables and Moreton Equestrian Centre. Liz has led a busy and varied life. She has 4 grown up children and 3 dogs. Liz spent over 30 years with the Army Reserves and is currently a List 4 BD judge. She has competed up to Advanced Medium and rode for the BD South West Regional team over a number of years. She currently keeps her two competition horses, the Hannoverians Scooby and Bentley, with Dannie Morgan. Scooby is ridden by Dannie and has recently won both regionals at Medium level to qualify for the Winter Championships. Bentley competed at the 2025 Nationals with both Liz and Dannie’s rider Lauren culminating in a win and two runner up placings at the Nationals with Lauren.

Moira Bonner - Yard Director

Moira Bonner is the Yard Director and has been involved with the running of Moreton for over 30 years. Moira is a BHS Accredited Coach and a BD Steward. She has been self-employed since 2005 and now assists Liz running the events at MEC alongside her busy coaching life. Moira has had numerous horses over the years and has competed up to BE 100, BS Discovery and Medium level BD. She sadly lost her horse Chutney in early 2025 and is hoping to welcome a new horse in 2026.

Charlotte Wilson – Yard Manager

Charlotte has worked at Moreton stables for 28 years . Previously Charlotte spent five years working as a hunt groom and two years grooming for an advanced event rider. Charlotte holds her BHS stage 1 . Charlotte has 2   horses at Moreton Charlie and Rory (pictured) who are both retired race horses.

Katie Dennett – Head Girl

Katie is Head Girl and has been at Moreton for 12 years. She studied equine at Kingston Maurward college for 3 years before starting at Moreton, coming away with 2 merits and a distinction in horse care and management. Katie has her Riding and Road Safety qualification and is trained in first aid. She competed her own mare Breeze up to prelim level in dressage since being at Moreton and has been placed in Moreton’s Unaffiliated dressage championships. Breeze is now retired at the age of 29 and is enjoying her life at work with Katie.

Aisha

Aisha Lee. Working at MEC for 8 years, passionately devoted to all things equestrian. Her horse, Apache, has been here just a bit longer. He’s a lively 20 year old skewbold gelding, who was recently awarded a 1st place ribbon at MEC’s Unaffiliated Dressage Championships.
